Welcome to the website of the Hopkins County Appraisal District. Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. The District strictly adheres to the Texas Property Tax Code to provide equality and accurate assessments for its constituents and tax base.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide accurate property assessments to facilitate the local funding for our county, schools, cities, and other districts that derive budgets and other operating expenses from local property values.

If you have an existing BPP account, you can look up your account on www.myswdata.com/hopkins and submit your 2023 business personal property rendition on-line. Filing is mandatory and failure to do so will result in a 10% penalty.

Online protests can only be filed if: 1) the property is classified as residential-single family; 2) the property is your residential homestead with a homestead exemption on the account; and 3) you do not have a designated agent representing you.

SEC. 11.43 (h-1) - "THE CHIEF APPRAISER FOR AN APPRAISAL DISTRICT SHALL DEVELOP A PROGRAM FOR PERIODIC REVIEW OF EACH RESIDENCE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION GRANTED BY THE DISTRICT UNDER SEC. 11.13 TO CONFIRM THAT THE RECIPIENT OF THE EXEMPTION STILL QUALIFIES FOR THE EXEMPTION. THE PROGRAM MUST REQUIRE THE CHIEF APPRAISER TO REVIEW EACH RESIDENCE HOMESTEAD AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 5 TAX YEARS. THE PROGRAM MAY PROVIDE FOR THE REVIEW TO TAKE PLACE IN PHASES, WITH A PORTION OF THE EXEMPTIONS REVIEWED IN EACH TAX YEAR."

In accordance with Sec 25.19 (e) - Notices will be sent to those whose value has increased more than $1,000, new owners or those that request a notice.

THE HOPKINS COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT REMINDS BUSINESSES THAT RENDITIONS WILL BE MAILED OUT AROUND JANUARY5th, 2024. PLEASE REMEMBER TO RENDER TAXABLE PROPERTY BY APRIL 15TH, 2024 TO AVOID PENALTY. These forms may be submitted on-line if you have an existing BPP account.

BEWARE OF PERSONS OR BUSINESSES CHARGING A FEE FOR PROPERTY TAX FORMS INCLUDING THE HOMESTEAD APPLICATION. IF YOU RECEIVE A LETTER OFFERING TO HELP YOU WITH FILING FORMS FOR A FEE, PLEASE CALL THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT. ANY FORM THAT IS OFFERED BY THE COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE IS FREE AT OUR OFFICE.
