Penalty & Interest 

31.02(g) Under the Texas Tax Code the failure to send or receive a tax bill does not affect the validity of the tax,the penalty,the interest, or the date due

New Homestead Requirements 

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2013 Homestead Exemption Application Requirements Requires a copy of the applicant’s driver’s license or state-issued personal identification to the claimed exemption in the applicant’s name. The address on the driver’s license or state-issued personal identification must correspond with the address of the property for which the exemption is being applied.

The Montague CAD will be closed December 24 & 25, 2020 Thursday & Friday Christmas, January 1,2020 FridayJanuary 18-Monday Martin Luther King Jr Day, February 15 Monday Presidents Day,April 2Friday Good Friday,May 31 Friday-Memorial Day, July 5-Monday Independence Day, September 6-Monday Labor Day, November 11-Thursday-Veterans's Day, November 25 & 26- Thursday & Friday, Thanksgiving, December 23 & 24 Thursday & Friday-Christmas, December 31, Friday- New Year's Day

Exemption Removal Letters 

Properties no longer qualifying for Exemptions will be mailed letters in January 2021

Delinquency Date 

Taxes Become Delinquent February 1.


Agricultural and Homestead Exemptions forms will be mailed out in January the application deadline is April 30, 2021

2021 Personal Property Rendition 

2021 Real & Business Personal Property Notices have been on April 15, 2021.

20% Additional Attorneys Fees 

July 1 taxes not paid will incur an additional 20% attorneys fee
